[Video] Joy Daily Calls Wale’s "Pretty Girls" Video "Disgusting"

Remember earlier when I blogged about the backlash that Wale was receiving for his portrayal of  beautiful women in his video for “Pretty Girls”? Well here is video proof. Here is Joy Daily of JoyDaily.tv [based in Wale’s hometown of D.C] voicing her opinions on the video. She basically goes on and on about how black people have an “obsession with complexion” and reprimands Wale for having light skinned, white, mixed and hispanic girls as the majority in the video. She goes on to say that we should BOYCOTT the video and says Wale should be ashamed of himself for being of African decent and not having anyone that resembles him in the video. PERSONALLY, while I do recognize that as a community, black people do have certain issues regarding complexion and race, I think that this is being taken way too far. A music video is the artist/directors vision, a display of their ideas and concepts and they are the sole proprietors. If a person casts for a video, it is up to them who they choose and WHAT they will do. If the girls showcased in “Pretty Girls” are Wale’s idea of PRETTY, then who cares what color they are? Like I said, I recognize skin color as a relevant issue in our society, but really I can’t side with Joy on this, I will NOT BOYCOTT the video, and as I said before, he showed different types of women just because they weren’t “dark-skinned” doesn’t automatically mean he didn’t display diversity. Anyway guys, watch Joy’s rant and formulate your own opinions.!
[Anybody else notice that she’s light skinned? [I’m just saying.]

[Video] Wale x Gucci Mane x Weensey "Pretty Girls"

“Ugly girls be quiet, quiet…pretty girls clap clap like this..”. At last a video for Wale’s “Pretty Girls”. Apparently, he received backlash from people because of his portrayal of his definition of “Pretty Girls” as in too light skinned. Personally I think he should quite a bit of diversity; some girls were tall, thick, skinny, bigger, shorter, wore glasses had straight hair, curly hair but of course as a people, race is the only factor that matters. [Yawn.] Anyway, the visual was good to me, he kept it simple and paid awesome homage to his pal and featured artist, Gucci Mane who is presently incarcerated. Check out the video dreamers.!
