[News] Rapper Dolla’s Murder Trial Already Facing Controversy

As earlier reported the trial against Aubrey Louis Berry has begun as he has been charged with the murder of former Konvict Muzik rapper, Dolla.

The trial has already shown conflicting stories in the murder and each side is trying to establish whether the shooter or the rapper incited the act.

With prosecution opening the argument, the shooting has been described as a cold case of being a well calculated murder done by Berry who calmly had valet get his car and drove by the body after the shooting.

“Roderick was senselessly gunned down by Aubrey Berry in a hail of gunfire,” said Deputy District Attorny Robert Grace, according to the Associated Press.

The defense, however, is calling the incident a case of self-defense and are stating that Dolla might have urged the shooting to occur when he allegedly told Berry, “Today, you’re going to die.”

In trying to make their case more valid, Berry’s defense attorney, Howard Price, plans to reference some lyrics from the rapper as evidence that Dolla portrayed a violent image.  Along with his music, Price also believes that Dolla was an active member of the Mansfield Crips which could have been a factor in Berry fearing for his life.

As the proceedings go into tomorrow, Crystal Jackson, former girlfriend of the slain rapper, will continue her testimony as she was the last witness to be called following testimonies from employees of Airtran and Southwest Airlines as to what the procedures are for a license gun owner to follow when bringing a firearm onto a plane, according to the Hip-Hop Enquirer.

Dolla, real name Roderick Anthony Burton, was gunned down on May 18, 2009 outside of the Beverly Center shopping mall in Los Angeles, CA.  Being shot at by Berry eight times, four bullets were able to strike and kill Burton.

[News] Ron Isley is Released From Prison [New Project to Include Rick Ross x Lauryn Hill]

The King’s back.  Not that one.  One of the legendary Kings Of R&B, Ron “Mr. Biggs” Isley has been released from prison after serving three years for tax evasion.

Speaking with comedian Steve Harvey, Isley said,

“I’m overjoyed to be home and to be able to do everything that I want to do.  I’m in love with this record business and I’m in love with the fans and everything and I just couldn’t wait to get back to doing that.

I’m working on another album and this album is gonna mean so much.  I’ve been thinking about it for 3 years and wondering what it was gone be like and what it was gonna be like to sing certain songs and wanting to sing certain songs and now I got that chance to do that.”

Mr. Biggs also spoke on how the stint behind the wall changed his life and his families.

“It changed me a whole lot.  My wife was able to visit me like three days a week  and my son so that was  the great thing about it.  It was a little 3-hour drive for her to come to the camp where I was and I was  able to get through because of that.  That 3 days was everything to me man.

[But I’m home now] The family is fine.  My son is 3 years old and  he’s with me everyday.  Me and him boy, Little Ronald.”

Isley also used his time behind bars to speak with his fellow brothers on lockdown and performed for them as well.  Explaining some of the realities of being locked down, he states,

“…Talking to young people and crying with them  and people that  were gonna be in there some years and that part really hurts.  To see  your people and all kinds of people… older people [locked up].  And they looked up to  me and like my music and we talked about our career and it was just like that man.  I was working at the chapel and I did gospel shows every week and that kept me up…  I’m gone do a gospel album too.”

But before the gospel project, Ron Isley is working on a new album for Def Jam and promises that the new album will be something different.

“Some of the people that I’m working with on this album  will be Lauryn Hill, T.I., Rick Ross and   Burt Bacharach.   The group is back and they  were just waiting.  I would like to also thank L.A. Reid and the staff at Def Jam and Fox Entertainment and Elise Murray.

Just  all the people that were just waiting for me to come home and for putting this together and supporting everything I’m doing.  I feel like I’m 18 again and starting a new career.”

Mr. Biggs will also be making his return starting Mother’s Day Weekend when he’ll hit the stage in Atlantic City on May 8^th and at The Paradise Theatre in the Bronx, NY on May 9^th.

[News] Producer Jim Jonsin Sues Lil’ Wayne for "Lollipop"

Jim Jonsin, the producer responsible for hits like Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Through The Phone” and T.I.’s “Whatever You Like”, is filing a lawsuit against incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne.

Jonsin, who co-wrote Wayne’s triple platinum single “Lollipop”, says he’s owed over $500,000 in unpaid royalties for his contribution the song.

Jonsin appeared in a Manhattan Federal courtroom Tuesday representing his company Rebel Rock Productions to file the formal lawsuit against Wayne’s Young Money imprint.

According to court documents, Jonsin—real name Mark Schaffer, says the song has garnered more than 4 million downloads and more than $4 million in ringtone sales.

He therefore is entitled to at least $500,000 of that which he says he never recieved.

Lollipop helped Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” sell over 3.2 million copies and earned him a Grammy for “Rap Record Of The Year.”

Lil Wayne is continuing to serve his one year prison sentence at New York’s Riker’s Island.

Police Consider Filing Charges Against Erykah Badu For “Window Seat” Video

Erykah Badu’s new video is raising more than just a few eyebrows, it could be raising charges.

Police in Texas are investigating whether to charge the singer with indecent exposure for her “Window Seat” video.

While some people call it art and others call it freedom of expression, police are calling it a crime.

According to NBC affiliate, Dallas KXAS while police were not on the scene, if one witness comes forward to police, she can be charged with indecent exposure.

The video was shot March 17 in Dallas at Dealey Plaza where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

The racy video shows Badu parking a car and slowly walking to the assassination spot stripping away her clothes.

Bystanders including children are seen in the video as the singer strips completely naked before a gunshot sounds and she falls to the ground with the words “groupthink” pouring out of her head.

The misdemeanor carries a maximum fine of $4,000 and up to one year in jail.

Badu is continuing to defend her video and recently took to her Twitter to say,

“I expected the gossip blog sites to spin it negatively . i expected people to ride with me. I’ve been punished AND rewarded enough times by love and life to dedicate the whole thing to EVOLVING . i am happy.”

She later added,

“One cant oppose #groupthink , its a part of human nature , but only recognize his/her position in the thing and redefine his/herself.”

[News] Where’s The $354 Million In U.S. Red Cross Donations for Haiti?

“We want our money!  We want our shelter!”, “Who’s the real criminals?

Red Cross, double cross!” & “Red Cross where’s the money?  That’s our blood down in Haiti!”

These repeated chants were shouted by upset demonstrators who withstood the drizzling rain this past Monday evening while gathering in front of the Headquarters of the American Red Cross at 429 W49^thSt. in mid-town Manhattan.

They were publicly protesting the whereabouts of hundreds of millions of dollars in public donations that was supposed to go towards relief efforts in Haiti.

“Everybody who went into their pockets and pulled out $5, $10, some pulled out thousands of dollars – because they saw the suffering in Haiti.  People donated money to the Red Cross thinking that it was going to Haiti – we call that a double cross!” – shouted Omawale Clay of the December 12^th Movement

He added,

“Suffering took place because the U.S. & France are the biggest criminal enterprises in the world!  Haiti’s underdevelopment is directly because of the U.S. & France!  The people saw the misery and heartbreak and gave their money to this criminal enterprise!”

The financial contributions from across the U.S. were supposed to be utilized for clean clothes, food and water and also to set up new shelters for many of the residents who were devastated and displaced by the 7.0 magnitude killer quake which struck the peninsula-country’s capita of Port-Au-Prince this past January 12^th.

Yet, many individuals working with the relief efforts are saying that the executives at the Red Cross are using the funds for their own personal gains and also that the U.S. is using the disaster as an excuse to deploy over 100,000 military personnel there as they plan to re-colonize the nation.

“They sent Clinton and Bush down there to continue the robbery of Haiti!” -Clay suggested.

“There’s no difference between the Red Cross and Wall street.  They’re not in the business of crisis – they’re in the business of making a profit.  They make a profit off the crisis, heartache and humanitarian needs of the people.

“The people gave money because they want to help… out of the love for their people – but this Red Cross is nothing but American double cross.  They make a profit off of people’s misery… don’t be fooled by them!”

According to certain reports the American Red Cross has collected over $354 million for relief aid in Haiti, yet only approximately 1/3^rd of that has been accounted for.

“People all over the U.S.; your friends, relatives, everybody in solidarity with Haiti; gave money to the Red Cross, thinking that they weren’t the good old American gangster entrepreneurial, seditious double crossers.  Red Cross has only allocated $106 million out of $354 million,” claimed Clay.

He went on to warn:

“You know how they do, once they collect the money, they take Haiti off the television – they did it with Katrina.  They think that we’re going to forget… but we’re not going to forget Haiti because that’s our blood down there!”

Also of significance is the upcoming rain season in that region of the Caribbean, which is expected to strike Haiti with torrential floods and mud slides within a month.  Without proper shelter and necessary supplies for survival, the small nation is sure to suffer more casualties and is still in dire need of more financial and moral support, rather than more armed soldiers.

“It is very unfortunate for the suffering people in Haiti to be deprived of the resources that good people intended for them because the Red Cross has not allowed the free flow of those resources.  Evil takes no holidays!” -assessed Brother Tarik.

Clay concluded:

“The Red Cross is a criminal enterprise and they are carrying out crimes all around the world!  Haiti stood up for us and we’re going to stand up for Haiti.  Haiti stood up for Africa and Africa is going to stand up for Haiti.  Haiti stood up for all freedom loving people.  Haiti is going to rise again. All we have to do is get these imperialist off your back.  Rise up Haiti.  In the name of the spirits of Toussaint, Dessalines and Christophe – Haiti rise!”

[News] Murderer Of Malcolm X To Be Released

The man who killed El Hajj Malik El Shabazz a.k.a. Malcolm X in cold blood, is set to be released from jail.

Thomas Hagan is the only man to admit to assassinating the leader and was found guilty of murder for his shooting death on February 21, 1965 on the stage of the Audubon Ballroom.

The convicted killer was granted parole on March 3rd and is now scheduled to be released on April 28th.

Before being granted parole, he was allowed to spend 12 hours a week in a work release program and allowed to spend time at home with his wife and kids.

X was speaking to a crowd of his followers when he was gunned down by Hagan, Norman 3X Butler and Thomas 15X Johnson.

Hagan was shot in the leg by one of X’s bodyguards and almost beaten to death by the crowd.

THOUGHTS: I hope his parole COMES with BODYGUARDS….he’s gonna need them…..

[News] Inmate Awarded $95,000 Settlement After Guard Rips Out Gold Teeth

An inmate in a Tennessee prison is seeing dollar signs after a winning a settlement against a prison guard who ripped out his gold teeth causing him permanent injuries.

Anthony McCoy was brought to the Davidson County jail in Tennessee for failure to pay child support.

While serving his time Lieutenant Tanya Mayhew asked him to take out the gold teeth in his mouth.

When McCoy told the woman that he couldn’t because they were permanent, she reached into his mouth and removed them by hand for him.

David Raybin, the attorney for McCoy says his client was,

“Spitting out teeth and blood in a trash can then told to get back in line.”

Raybin also says that the enamel was ripped from four of Anthony’s teeth and he was only given Tylenol for medical treatment until 10 days later when a dentist was called.

McCoy needed $10,000 in dental work for his mangled mouth and the lieutenant was demoted and suspended for five days because of the incident.

The state of Tennessee will pay McCoy $95,000 in damages.
